Project Logistics Architecture was set up in 1997 by its present managing director Jillian Mitchell RIBA, designing bespoke, high-quality residential and commercial projects.
Jillian explains, “While our practice does not specialise, we like to think we are particularly clear about spending time with our clients at the start of a project, getting the brief right, and I think that sets us apart from our competitors.” In this way, the practice enables clients to build as efficiently as possible.
One of their current projects is an office development at Markham Vale, to the north of Chesterfield. This is a bespoke commercial project, for a client who sees the building as an integral part of his marketing strategy, showing the quality of operation across the company to visiting customers and suppliers. Jillian explains, “Project Logistics were appointed because we were able to demonstrate that we appreciated, and could deliver, the necessary quality of design which the project demanded.” This project is due for completion in February 2012.
Looking to the future, Jillian concludes, “Sustainability is important to us as a practice. We try to encourage our clients to embrace the basics. The good thing is that good building practice should save money on energy bills, and that is always popular! We are what I would describe as ‘quietly’ sustainable – we don’t do ‘ecobling’.
