CEMPLAS WATERPROOFING AND CONCRETE REPAIRS LTD

Croydon Fire Station
The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority appointed Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd as the principle main contractor to undertake Concrete repair, brick repair, and rendering works to the Training Tower, and Rear Boundary Walls of Croydon Fire Station. To facilitate works where necessary Cemplas provide mobile towers and provided all Safety Barriers where necessary around the work areas to ensure the Fire Station remained fully operational during the 20 day program of remedial works.

Training Tower

Cemplas began the Investigation and Removal of Concrete to the Training Tower and removed all defective concrete. Steel reinforcement bars were cleaned, and Ronabond steel reinforcement primer was applied to the cleaned reinforcement bars. The areas to be re-instated were primed with Ronabond Primer, and the Concrete repaired using Ronacrete Repair Mortar, and cured with Monocure

Rendered Rear Boundary Wall

Prior to undertaking brick and render repairs to the rear boundary wall, Cemplas cut back the vegetation and cleaned all surface dirt and debris. All cables were temporarily removed from the wall surface, existing render was hacked off, and the bricks dismantled and re-used to rebuild a 2m x 1.5m section of wall at the parapet level. The defective render was reinstated with a Ronafix Render (mix A) incorporating a bell cast drip. Ronafix Sand and Cement slurry was applied to the prepared wall face. Upon completion the finished surface had two coats of Ronabond Nigatex coating applied.

Un-Rendered Rear
Boundary Wall

Cemplas cut back the vegetation and cleaned all surface dirt and debris. Joints were raked out to a depth of 25mm, and re-pointed using a 4:1 sand and cement mortar. A section of bowed wall at the parapet level was dismantled and rebuilt. Ronafix Sand and Cement slurry was applied to the prepared wall face and the finished surface had two coats of Ronabond Nigatex coating applied.

Rear Annex Block

Cemplas removed and replaced broken bricks at the corner of the main block, rebuilding to match existing brickwork. Crack brickwork was removed and replaced. Horizontal joints were chased out at 400 centres and stainless steel Heli-bars were inserted. On completion brickwork was re-pointed to match existing.

This was a multidiscipline project undertaken by the Concrete Repair Division of Cemplas whose experience, capabilities and quality delivery has embraced a wide range of diverse and highly complex projects working as the principle main contractor on a vast range of refurbishment projects across the UK.
