Comar launches its new products

Overview

Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems are pleased to launch their new Comar 7P.i ECO Door System which integrates with the Comar 5P.i ECO Window System. This new launch completes the innovative P.i ECO range which provides casement windows and doors that have slim 55mm profiles and, through innovative integration, actively reduces costs.

Comar 5P.i ECO Window System has also been re-launched with additional screw-ports, bay pole options, high lx profiles and three aluminium sill options.

The Comar P.i ECO range of aluminium windows and doors provides an integrated solution that meets the very latest criteria in product specification.

The Comar P.i ECO range offers an eco-nomic and eco-logical solution for residential and social housing, flat developments and light commercial projects. Where economic solutions are required, the window and door suites have been priced to provide cost effectiveness and, as the aluminium is 100% recyclable, sustainability concerns are alleviated. Along with these key

eco-nomic and eco-logical features, the window and door suites provide excellent performance.

Performance

The Comar 5P.i ECO casement window range has impressive results, achieving a Grade A in the Green Guide, thereby enhancing the buildings’ BRE-EAM rating. The Comar 5P.i ECO casement has shoot-bolt locking, which facilitated it passing BS7950 security, and the weather test to BS6375 exceeded the requirements, passing at 600Pa Air, 750Pa Water and Wind Resistance at 2400Pa.

The Comar 5P.i ECO is complemented with the Comar 7P.i ECO door, high performance rebated door, open-in, open out and double door options. The Comar 7P.i ECO has passed PAS 23 achieving 600Pa Air, 600Pa Water and 2400Pa Wind Resistance. The door passed the security test PAS 24 with flying colours.

Finished Solution

The systems had to provide an excellent installed solution. With this in mind, the door and window integrate together to provide a 55mm flush solution. The casement window hangs directly from the framing reducing sight-lines and additional outer framing costs. The window can be side or top hung on friction hinges. The doors have multi-point locking hardware and the window shoot-bolts ensure a secure installed solution. To cater for building tolerances, the door has an adjustable hinge which is clampable. This can be altered on-site to ensure the long-term smooth operation of the opening door as well as accompanying adjustable lock keeps.

Why Aluminium

With more and more onus on the environment, window and door systems must be sustainable. Using aluminium, the Comar P.i ECO system is 100% recyclable. Aluminium can be recycled an infinite number of times with no loss to its capability. In fact, a study from the Delft University of Technology highlights this: 96% of the aluminium from the demolished Wembley was reclaimed and recycled. Added to this, aluminium is one of the most sustainable materials as there are at least 300 years of known reserves of Bauxite – aluminium’s raw material. Aluminium is the tried and tested building material – the life-cycle is indefinite, in essence a cradle to cradle material. Unlike other materials, aluminium has been around long enough not to have an expected design life, but a guaranteed design life of at least 40 years with no loss in performance or looks.

Aluminium is much stronger and more stable than other materials and will not warp, rust or need regular painting and maintenance. This is most important in the consumer market, where strength is a key consideration and where strong sections are vital for bay windows, doors and conservatories.

For prestigious projects, Comar 5P.i & 7P.i ECO ranges have a dual colour option: the internal and external faces of the profiles can be polyester powder coated or anodised in a multitude of colours and finishes. Low maintenance is a key consideration and powder coating will maintain its good looks for many years as it is also resistant to pollution, dirt and grime that could discolour most other finishes.

The Comar P.i ECO range has an integrated mullion option which allows windows and doors to be seamlessly integrated without additional profiles, creating slim sight lines and cost effectiveness.

The Comar P.i ECO range has been designed to perform, whilst backed by Comar’s market leading delivery. Comar 5P.i ECO includes a 55mm and 75mm window system and Comar 7P.i ECO, a 55mm door system. The windows can be specified in NBS Clause L10 and the doors in NBS Clause L20.
