Energy Centre Hits the Right Spot for Solarwall

Solarwall is a long-established home energy company based in York, servicing Yorkshire, Humberside, North And North East Lincolnshire and the North East.

During its 34-year existence, Solarwall has worked to provide cost-effective energy saving solutions to reduce fuel bills, combat climate change and to make homes warmer. The company’s figures show that they have reduced the carbon emissions across that region by more than 1.5 million tonnes.

According to sales manager, Ian Quarmby, “Renewable energy is our fastest growing area within the business. To support this market growth we opened The Energy Centre in April 2010. This was the brainchild of Grant Henderson, our renewables director.

The Energy Centre’s main purpose is to provide a free and welcoming advice centre where renewable technology is demystified and applied in a “real-life” setting. The building has working models of solar photovoltaic panels, solar thermal hot water panels, a wood burning stove and an air source heat pump, which service the Energy Centre and the offices of Solarwall Ltd.

In July 2011, we installed three solar Photovoltaic panels embedded into the tile roof to demonstrate an in-roof system to work alongside the eight panels we already have”. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, earlier, in March 2011, we won two Awards at the 2011 Yorkshire and Humber Microgeneration Awards for ‘Best Business Initiative’ and ‘Best Commercial Installation’, both given in recognition of our Energy Centre.”

This Energy Centre is more than just a working showroom. One of its main facilities is a carbon neutral conference suite that has been used to host a number of bespoke seminars to give groups an insight into renewables and when not hosting seminars it doubles as a meeting room for local companies.

Ian says, “There is much to be done to educate people about renewable technology. We adopt a holistic approach and offer our customers a bespoke service. We listen in order to understand what it is they want to achieve and then work with them to provide the best solution – whether it be a renewable technology on a commercial scale or simply more insulation for an uninsulated extension.”
