Forbes Solicitors has contracted with shentongroup’s unique emergency generator service, Powercall, to provide ‘power within the hour’ as part of its business continuity planning. Saving Forbes Solicitors capital expenditure and the challenges of siting, maintaining and refuelling a standby generator, the Powercall service will ensure that the company has emergency power in situ and connected up within a one hour target time.
Employing 350 staff in nine offices, Forbes Solicitors is one of the largest practices in the North of England. At its headquarters, it was important that the practice could continue to maintain its operations to clients and staff in the event of a prolonged powercut.
“Power outages are rare, so the Powercall service offers a cost effective solution whilst ensuring business continuity should the worst scenario arise ”, said Colin Pendlebury, IT Manager at Forbes Solicitors. “We trialled the service on a Sunday and everything went smoothly. The Powercall generator covered absolutely everything including the lighting and air conditioning”.
Powercall’s nationwide service is able to despatch a generator from a local depot with a target of 1-hour delivery time, and a guaranteed maximum of 3 hours. The network is serviced by a 24/7 call centre, which despatches a generator from the nearest local depot. The target time is less than one hour with a commitment to a maximum of three hours.
Since it was launched in 2005, shentongroup’s Powercall service has won a large number of contracts from a wide range of companies including healthcare organisations, universities, local authorities, care homes, retail businesses and organisations with multi-site applications. With the demand for emergency power set to grow at 7% per annum over the next five years, and with predictions of a more unstable and less secure mains power supply Powercall is finding a high demand for this unique service.
