INNOVATION in Flues and Chimneys – Environmental Considerations for Wood Burning Stoves and Biomass

Fit it and Forget it – 15 year warranty

As with the majority of wood burning appliances, they still require a suitable chimney to evacuate the products of combustion.   Due to the increased efficiency of these appliances, the flue gas temperatures are much lower than their predecessors, while appliances such as pellet stoves can also control the output depending on the room temperature.

For this reason retaining as much heat as possible in the flue gases is essential for rapid draught stabilization of the chimney while minimising the potential for condensation to occur.  Products such as the Nova SM pre-fabricated chimney system from SFL are ideal for these applications, especially where a traditional chimney is unavailable.  Combining ease of installation with a high thermal performance, installing Nova SM whether internally or externally is a very simple process.  Where a prefabricated system chimney has to be used, it must comply with BS EN 1856-1, having a minimum temperature rating of 400’C, soot fire resistance and a minimum liner thickness of 0.4mm grade 316L.

Our planet and ecosystem is fragile and consideration should also be given to the overall carbon footprint of the equipment being sourced.  As a UK chimney manufacturer for over 40 years (formerly Selkirk Manufacturing) all our products are manufactured in the UK and over 98% of all materials are sourced and supplied within the UK and therefore minimising the carbon footprint of the product.
