Knauf AMF Ceilings combine aesthetics, design and acoustic performance

Knauf AMF understands the importance of good ceiling design in creating high quality interiors and continues to invest in new products and manufacturing processes to provide one of the most comprehensive ranges of ceiling solutions.

The Knauf AMF Thermatex Acoustic Range offers a totally new concept for suspended ceiling systems, providing options that vary from acoustically reflective to highly absorbent, all with the same visual appearance. Exceptional sound insulation can also be achieved, with up to 44dB room-to-room attenuation.

Recent additions to the Range include new Thermatex Alpha ONE, Alpha HD and Thermatex Silence ceilings. Thermatex Alpha ONE is a wet-felt mineral tile that provides the highest sound absorption values. With a strong white acoustic fleece, it offers a smooth elegant finish together with excellent physical characteristics. Independent tests show Thermatex Alpha ONE offers Class A sound absorption, providing 100% sound absorption in accordance with EN ISO 11654. The 24mm thick tile is available with square or recessed edge details and is ideal for applications where very high sound absorption is required and is particularly suitable when only a small surface area is available for an acoustic finish.

Thermatex Alpha HD also offers Class A sound absorption with panel formats up to 1800mm in length. Individual panels feature a special edge detail that has an elegant concealed joint. Both Thermatex Alpha ONE and Alpha HD are robust and easy to handle, and are 100% recyclable.

New Thermatex Silence provides a combination of high sound absorption to control reverberation and high sound attenuation (up to 44dB) to reduce unwanted noise. The composite structure of dual density Thermatex boards serves to create good acoustics with a high level of robustness. The acoustic tissue face gives it the same white, uniform appearance as the entire Knauf AMF Acoustic Range.

Thermatex Silence is particularly suited to offices, schools and other environments where there is a requirement for both high sound absorption to control reverberation time and high sound attenuation to reduce the amount of unwanted noise. Thanks to their increased density, the tiles have very low air permeability meaning the surface stays dust-free and cleaner for longer.

The Thermatex Acoustic Range combines a variety of aesthetic, creative and acoustic properties in one ceiling range. All the different ceiling types have an identical smooth white appearance, providing the flexibility to change the acoustic performance of a space without compromising the visual appearance.

Thermatex Sonic Sky – the creative solution

There is a trend in modern architecture towards the use of hard reflective materials such as concrete, steel and glass. Technical and design issues in these situations mean a standard suspended ceiling often cannot be installed. Where concrete slabs are used to provide thermal mass they cannot be covered by full suspended ceilings, meaning there is limited space available for the acoustic absorption required to provide a comfortable acoustic environment. Knauf AMF’s Thermatex Sonic Sky rafts offer a simple solution to optimise the acoustics of a space where traditional suspended ceilings cannot be used. The rafts offer flexible and stylish solutions in a wide range of shapes and colours, consisting of a Thermatex ceiling panel in a supporting frame. The system is designed for easy installation with semi-concealed hangers that give a graceful floating appearance. Thermatex Sonic Sky rafts are available in a variety of sizes and special shapes including trapezoids, triangles, concave and convex formats. This allows the creation of elegant designs, with different colours providing further contrasting options. All rafts are designed to provide a quick and easy installation, with fully adjustable stainless steel suspension cables to allow precise positioning.
