Established in 1987, Valley Industrial Products has built up an enviable reputation for the supply of a vast range of cleaning, maintenance and janitorial products both speedily and economically to a huge variety of customers.
The company’s mission is to ensure that its customers receive the best product for the job at the best possible price, accurately and with the minimum of fuss.
Valley operates from an ideally located site adjacent to the North Circular Road around London with plenty of free parking. To date, the company has stocked products from many of the top manufacturers including Numatic, Contico, Clover Chemicals, Johnson Diversey, Jeyes, Prochem, Unger, Kimberly-Clark, and Metsa Serla. They have also introduced their own range of economy chemical products that are both top quality and easy to use, proudly boasting the ‘Valley’ label.
However, feeling that the company needed a new boost to its sales, Cliff Black, the owner, has decided on a bold move. “So far, we have simply offered our machines for sale but I believe that there is a new niche market out there for us in offering a hire and servicing service to our customers, both existing and new. Many of our customers are contract cleaners and what we are going to do is to offer them a service whereby we will collect a faulty or broken machine, bring it back here, service and clean it and return it to them.
“We have five of our own vans out on the road covering an area from Oxford to Southampton and east to Sussex and Kent, together with everywhere inside the M25. If this business takes off we will look to take on more staff and possibly a dedicated vehicle to meet the demand.
“In addition, we will also look to offer a hire service. Often, a contract cleaner will require a large machine, say to clean 5,000ft2 of carpet, for maybe two or three days. He might struggle with his standard machinery but could easily solve the problem with a hire machine from us. I believe that, in addition to giving our existing customers an improved service, it will also attract many new customers who had not wanted to purchase a machine for perhaps limited use.”
The premises on the Hastingwood Trading Estate incorporate a well-stocked trade centre, which has benefited from a large amount of investment. This has enabled Valley to put out on display a large proportion of the products in stock, which includes a vast assortment of cleaning equipment and janitorial supplies ranging from bleaches to brooms, mop and buckets and mobile cleaning trolleys. The focus is providing cleaning supplies at a low cost for all establishments, whether cleaned by contract services or DIY.
Cliff concludes, “2012 will be our Silver Jubilee and I believe that by adding this new service to our already well-respected offering, we can look forward to an even more successful next 25 years. We have a very efficient and well-trained staff of 15 who are here to look after our customers and if the new business takes off, then I will be looking to increase this.”
