InstallerLive is thrilled to announce that the National Skills Academy For Environmental Technologies is now the official event partner for the show.
The Skills Academy will be involved in a number of major activities at InstallerLive (16-19 October 2011) including the new interactive ‘Eco Challenge’ feature. The Eco Challenge gives visitors the opportunity to test their skills against each other in an exciting, timed competition focused on installing green technologies. The aim of the Eco Challenge is to raise awareness of the skills that will be required to fit renewable technologies in the light of current and future Government initiatives, such as the Green Deal, Feed in Tariffs and the Renewable Heat Incentive. Under the watchful eye of TV’s Tommy Walsh, the Eco Challenge will give visitors the opportunity to test their skills against each other in an exciting, timed competition focused on installing green technologies. Winners on each day will receive training vouchers to be used for environmental technology training through the National Skills Academy.

Dr Hickey continues “The Eco Challenge will showcase installation methods linked to all eight of the technologies in which QCF Level 3 qualifications will be available. But as well as watching and drawing inspiration from the experts, installers will also get to have a go. We want to see some first class performances and so will present Skills Academy training vouchers to those who excel in the Challenge “The National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies comprises a network of training providers that deliver accredited environmental technologies training. At present, training provision in this area is patchy across the country, and is not accepted as meeting the industry-recognised competence level. With the network structure of the Academy, employers can now be confident that they can gain accredited renewables skills in a location closer to their business. The National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies also provides a coherent approach to how training provision is developed, promoted and delivered.
The InstallerLive Educational Programme will provide unrivalled, practical education sessions with content approved by an Advisory Panel, including the APHC, HETAS, EON and the HHIC. The Panel is chaired by executive director of SummitSkills and interim director of the National Skills Academy, Dr Cathryn Hickey. This will ensure installers receive the training content they need in four eye-catching seminar and demonstration areas at the show – The Green Deal Station, The Plumb & Electro Skills Station, The Heat Skills Station and The Eco Challenge.
