Beat a path to Distinction Doors

Distinction Doors is Europe’s largest distributor of Nan Ya composite door slabs. Over half of all GRP composite doors in the UK use the Nan Ya slab, and it is the product of choice – over half a million Nan Ya slabs are supplied worldwide each year.

Whether you are an existing composite door fabricator or thinking of manufacturing door sets, Distinction has a solution. They can supply slabs direct from their 80,000sq ft distribution centre or supply cut-to-size, prepped, and edge-banded slabs ready to fit into your door frame – unglazed or glazed with a range of specially chosen glazing designs. This can be through their network of fabricators or their own facility at Tankersley.

With matching Nan Ya glazing cassettes you are always guaranteed a colour match both now and in the future. Choosing the Nan Ya cassette also safeguards product warranties as both slab and blank are from the same manufacturer.
If you are an installer wanting a premium quality, tried and tested composite door set Distinction has an established network of fabricators ready to provide the products and support you need.

Distinction Doors was formed in 2005 to distribute Nan Ya’s GRP entrance doors to the UK market. The company quickly outgrew their 10,000 sq ft base in Swinton moving to a 40,000 sq ft premises at Tankersley. Aggressive growth followed, with the acquisition of Evergreen in 2010 and expansion to 80,000 sq ft premises stocking 44,0000 blanks and 100,000 cassettes.

Drew Wright, Managing Director of Distinction Doors, says, “The acquisition of Evergreen, the only other UK distributor of Nan Ya GRP door blanks and glazing cassettes, was a natural fit for Distinction and cemented our status as the largest distributor of composite door blanks and supplier of prepped blanks to the British market.”
Distinction has grown its business organically over the past six years to achieve market-leading status. It has widened the scope of the company’s activities from being a warehousing and distribution operation, to include a rapidly growing sizing, edge-banding and routing service together with the supply of components, including triple glazed decorative glass, locks, handles, letter plates and hinges. By adding Evergreen to its portfolio, Distinction’s share of the GRP composite door market in the UK now exceeds 50%, with annual sales of more than £24 million.

Nan Ya Plastics, who developed the process of making doors in thermoset fibreglass, have been selling door blanks worldwide since 1991. They now produce over 500,000 GRP door blanks a year, with around 270,000 coming to the UK. The door’s skin is made from impact-resistant fibreglass (thermoset GRP – glass reinforced polyester) and is compression moulded to offer detailed panel definition and lifelike wood grain effect, which will not expand or contract, .

Distinction Doors’ innovative website allows clients to view their door choices in different colours, style and glazing options with its clever ‘Door Designer’ application. You will also find the U Value Calculator which allows their fabricator, installer or sealed unit manufacturer clients to calculate U-Values for windows and doors to assist in their compliance with the Part L changes implemented in October 2010.

In partnership with Nan Ya, Distinction Doors is continuously adding to its product range. Last year saw the addition of a stable door. A polymer railed door, which can be cut to create this style without losing its structural integrity. Other new lines include a 6-panel narrow door and cottage doors in special narrow widths for sheds and bin cupboards.

Both FD30 Fire Doors, in a range of styles and colours, as well as an FD60 6 Panel door are available to this ever growing market.
