Wearing the correct garments to keep you warm when working in cold conditions is essential. But often layered garments designed to keep you warm can also make you sweat, leaving you feeling cold and uncomfortable. Arco, the UK’s leading provider of safety equipment and workwear, has introduced a new range of BaseLayer garments, made from HydroBase® fabric, to wick away sweat leaving you feeling warm, dry and comfortable.
The BaseLayer range is made from HydroBase®, a breathable 100% polyester fabric unique to Arco. It includes full leg pant, long sleeve T-shirt and short sleeve T-shirt and are suitable for a variety of applications in all seasons. Each BaseLayer garment is made from three layers which work together to pull the sweat to the outside layer. The fabric has been cleverly designed to wick away sweat and transport it to the surface of the fabric where it can evaporate. This expels the feeling of coldness that you can get when you sweat and helps avoid ‘skin cling’ that can happen with other fabrics. The inner layer has been brushed so that it feels soft and comfortable against the skin. The fabric also provides a high ‘warmth to weight’ ratio, giving more warmth in a lighter weight fabric for a more comfortable fit when working. HydroBase® is a durable fabric designed to last, so is ideal for tough working conditions and will not ‘pill’ or bobble. Each BaseLayer garment in the range is colourfast to saltwater, sun and chlorine and are designed to retain their shape when washed.
With bacteria thriving in sweaty work clothes, the HydroBase® fabric is embedded with silver ions. On contact with the skin they’re released from the Hydrobase® fabric, suppressing bacterial growth responsible for bad smells and providing 99.9% protection against major health hazardous organisms. Each of the BaseLayer garments provide SPF50+ sun protection, so it is also useful for those working outside during applications such as construction and outdoor manufacturing.
