INTERSERVE TO BUILD NEW IN PATIENT UNIT FOR ST LUKE’S HOSPICE

Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been chosen to build a major extension and complete the total transformation of in patient facilities by St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield. Work on the project, which has a total cost of £5.5 million, is due to start in June with completion in August 2013.

The project will create entirely new facilities with 14 en suite single rooms and two triple occupancy rooms, all designed to allow the Hospice to meet stringent healthcare regulations, while providing privacy and dignity for patients and their loved ones – maintaining the Hospice’s capacity to care for 20 in patients.

Chief Executive Peter Hartland commented: “Interserve offered us best value plus commitment to a high quality process and product. The fact that about 70 per cent of the value of the project will flow into Sheffield and within 10 miles of its centre is great news for local employment and local businesses.”

Interserve Divisional Director Kevin Frain said: “As a native of the city, I have always been very aware of St. Luke’s Hospice and greatly admired its work. We at Interserve will be very proud to play our part in providing these excellent new facilities.”

Interserve is already known in Sheffield for the work it has completed at some of the city’s most famous sites, including the Don Valley Stadium, the Motorpoint Arena, the Millennium Gallery and the Winter Gardens, as well as several of the city’s schools and the English Institute of Sport.
