Kimberly Access has become the first powered access company in the UK to make a significant investment in the new SanctuaryZone device that prevents machine operators from being crushed.
Kimberly Access has ordered 50 SanctuaryZones after first considering developing its own anti crushing device and then setting up a team to investigate what was already available.
Group Operations Director Alex Lowe said: “When we looked into SanctuaryZone we saw that a great deal of thought had gone into its development. It is a robust tried and tested device that is easy to install and will fit onto our boom lifts without us having to make the time-consuming adjustments that would have been necessary with electronic anti-crushing devices.
“We were also very impressed that SanctuaryZone has been made readily available to everyone. This is a very mature attitude and I wish other companies could be as open as this because there should be no barriers to safety.”
Kimberly Access will make SanctuaryZone available to its customers throughout its seven strong UK depot network.
Mr Lowe said: “SanctuaryZone comes in flat pack format but only takes about 20 minutes to assemble. Once assembled it can be fitted to a boom lift within a few minutes. Health & Safety is of key importance to Kimberly Access, and with SanctuaryZone we are now in a position to offer our customers a device that can save lives.” Ray Ledger, Chairman of Kimberly, commented: “The decision by my senior team to commit to a major competitor’s system not only reflects the credibility of the AFI system but also an adult and ‘ego less’ approach to sensible decision making – a trait much lacking when it comes to inter company cooperation in the access sector.”
Available from WorkZone, SanctuaryZone does not impede work activities, is fully adjustable, CE approved and works on all major manufacturers’ machines.
