Local SME wins prestigious Scape/EMPA framework bid

Family run Oliveti Construction are celebrating after successfully creating a consortia of local companies to secure a place on the Scape/EMPA Regional Repairs and Maintenance Framework.

Managing Director Gian Oliveti is justifiably proud of the herculean achievement of the Oliveti team in spearheading the consortia, to undertake a nine month procurement process which involved bidding against numerous other companies – many of them multi-national names. Gian said “At times it felt a little like David & Goliath”.

Whilst many companies are facing the future with trepidation due to the tough economic situation, Oliveti Construction can look ahead with much more certainty after securing a place on the long term framework “I’m so pleased that we got there but there were times when we did question whether we would be able to make the grade. Thankfully we weren’t deluding ourselves and won a four-year contract. In addition to this a successful bid to Leicestershire County Council for their two year reactive maintenance contract further enhances the companies future”.

Securing long term frameworks certainly gives Oliveti plenty of confidence for the future, as it will provide a reliable stream of work moving forward. “We obviously still have to tender for the work but getting onto frameworks of this nature has really strengthened our portfolio in the market”, adds Mr Oliveti.

Set up in 1992 by Gian and his wife Rachel operating in the Leicester area and surrounding counties, Oliveti has seen a natural growth in size by assembling a team of highly skilled craftsmen backed up by support staff and a strong supply chain who offer value for money and attention to detail however large the project. With extensive experience in internal and external building refurbishment, washroom cubicles, new builds, maintenance contracts, re-active maintenance, alteration and decoration for both modern and period properties their business crosses all sectors within the industry, including education, commercial, residential, health, ecclesiastical, leisure, industrial and general public works.

Oliveti are mindful of the construction industries affect on the environment and demonstrate proven skills in identifying opportunities to re-use otherwise wasted materials, thus contributing and enabling recycling up to 75% of potentially wasted materials. Oliveti utilises all aspects of remaining off cut materials from the manufacturing of all washroom materials.

The confidence Oliveti has absorbed throughout its recent procurement processes has reinforced its infrastructure and put it in excellent stead for the future. “We’ve grown as a business and have restructured the company as a result and we’re going from strength-to-strength. Hopefully within the next four to five years we will be a larger entity able to employ a much greater number of local people”.
Given the modest size of Oliveti, securing a place on frameworks has been a major achievement for the company and it is now looking to use it as a springboard to benefit not only Oliveti but also numerous local contactors within its highly experienced supply chain.
