Founded in 2008, Oxford Renewables is a renewable energy company specialising in wood-fired heating systems and solar hot water systems, often in combination. They can design, supply, install, and maintain any systems using these renewable energy technologies.
The founders of Oxford Renewables wanted to provide a renewable energy source, which offered a meaningful combination of low-carbon emissions, low economical and environmental impact.
They decided on the two most robust forms of renewable technologies – biomass and solar thermal. Incorporating a considerable range in scale of from log and pellet stoves with boilers, through to wood-fired boilers from 10kW up to 200kW and more, Oxford Renewables’ wood-fired heating and solar hot water systems are suitable for houses and buildings of all sizes, schools, hotels, dairy farms, or wherever there is a demand for heating or hot water.
Last year was a record year with a doubling of turnover for the company, says Ben Carter, Oxford Renewables. “A significant long-term driver for this growth comes from energy security. People are becoming increasingly concerned about relying on energy from a foreign source; about energy prices constantly going up and the environmental impact of traditional energy sources. Also, the renewable energy initiatives legislated by government has helped raised our profile and provided a sound economic incentive for people to take it up.
“We have chosen to use the best equipment on the market, which is why we are the south of England distributors of SOLARFOCUS heating and biomass equipment. We believe it is unbeatable in terms of design, quality of manufacture and materials, and efficiency of operation.”
For the past year the 8-strong team at Oxford Renewables has been preparing for the expected growth in this sector in 2012 and have begun building an installer network for the south of England for SOLARFOCUS products.
“At the moment we have 12 installers but we want to increase that number to 25-30 by the end of this year and are currently appealing for qualified plumbers or small companies with a heating or M&E background and who are keen to be a part of the renewable energy experience, to get in touch.”With a lifetime maintenance service for customer units – all of which have a typical lifespan of 20 years plus- the company is committed to being a strong force in the sector for many years to come.
“We are driven by our mission to build a healthy renewable energy structure in the south of England, but we are not just profit based. We have a strong environmental motivation which means we intend to be around for the long haul.
“It is our aim to be the leading company for the installation of renewable energy technology in the south of England in the next five years.” says Ben.
