If you read all of the advertisements, everyone offering the public a new kitchen promises to offer them something different. In the light of day, however, this is frequently not the case. One Company that definitely does offer something different is KBBC Kitchens.
Based in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, the company was set up by Chris Jay to offer discerning clients something different, namely a high grade product at a middle market price.
Chris explains, “Paramount to profit is the need to make the client more than happy and we have achieved this 99.9% of the time which our reputation shows. To say that anyone can please everyone 100% is impossible and is unrealistic but KBBC Kitchens will never rest until the customer is more than happy. It is our intention to give the customer exactly what they want – if they want bespoke, we can give it to them or if they want a standard kitchen we can give them that too.”
KBBC has access to a variety of manufacturing plants in Northern Ireland that can produce very good quality work and this enables KBBC to offer another, unique benefit, namely that any unit or complete kitchen can be made to suit any height, width or depth. This means, for example, that if a client is either unusually tall or short, the kitchen can be made to precisely meet their needs, rather than them having to struggle with standard height units. Chris adds, “Especially when we are working on top end kitchens, this gives us a tremendous advantage as we can ensure that the units fit precisely from wall to wall. This has enabled us to win a lot of work for top people on a recommendation basis.”
KBBC, however, does far more than simply design, manufacture and install kitchen units. Its skilled and qualified workforce can carry out the initial design; they can carry out any necessary building work, such as removal or construction of walls, including obtaining all of the necessary planning and building regulation clearance. They can also carry out any alteration and installation of gas, water and electrical services, including the installation of underfloor heating.
Chris says, “KBBC currently has a turnover of around £5 million. We have around 25-30 people in the office plus fifteen fitting teams, each of three craftsmen. When an enquiry is received, a technical surveyor will go on site and then once back in the office, make all of the necessary drawings on the in-house CAD system.
“KBBC is a Fairtrades and TrustMark Registered kitchen company and IS NOT an Internet sales company selling cheap kitchen cabinets and appliances online. It is a fact that the majority of orders placed for kitchens online are incorrect and causes a lot of delay and problems.
“We run against the tide and this is why, even in these difficult times, we have not only survived but, in fact, had an exceptional year last year. This year, the first three or four months were slow but, since then, everything has changed and we have now caught up with last year. In order to stay ahead of the field, however, we have to keep reinventing the face of the Company. We are constantly trying to organise change and we have to keep getting better and continue to give our customers the maximum amount of choice.
“Finally, we work with Hitachi Capital to enable our customers to fund their purchase in complete financial safety – 65% of KBBC customers purchase with our payment plans, for ease and peace of mind. KBBC and Hitachi Capital act as joint suppliers; both businesses have responsibility for the goods supplied. Together, we will uphold your home improvement product guarantee.”
