The Heart of Doha and the West Bay complex in Doha, Qatar is the next up-and-coming area in the Middle-East after the recent surge in development and popularity of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
To cope with the increased commercial and tourist interest in the regenerated region in Doha the country is building a new airport and surrounding office buildings and hotels to match the soon-to-be prestigious cities status. The new airport site spans across a vast area of 22 square kilometres and is policed via a variety of access control points.
With an estimated 50 million passengers flying in and out of the city every year by 2015, the new airport needed a sophisticated solution to protect its customers and workers from vehicle borne threats.
ATG Access has won a host of high profile, perimeter security contracts over the last couple of years including an Angolan oil refinery, British Embassies and Governmental European head quarters in Hague, Network Rail sites and multiple, British Embassy’s worldwide. With ATG Access employees visiting the site and key decision makers on multiple occasions; the company successfully won the multi million pound tender for NDIA.
Phase one of the NDIA project will involve site mobilisation, service provision and the construction of perimeter security around the passenger terminal complex. The second and third phases will see a further fifty six contact gates being installed and a suspended monorail system constructed for the transport of airport passengers throughout the multiple terminals. When the project is finished the total number of contact gates is expected to be 80. ATG will be manufacturing the perimeter security products to multiple areas of the vast site throughout the 4 year project.
To emphasise the innovative engineering and construction to be showcased at the airport site, an extensive environmental project has sprung up around the new building. The site was originally a landfill which has now been moved to a cleaner and more organised facility becoming the largest landfill relocation in the Persian Gulf region. To fit with this environmentally conscious design; the contractors have ordered a variety of products from ATG Access including their innovative Shallow Mount bollards.
Shallow Mount bollards not only offer PAS 68 rated protection, they also provide customers with a ‘Green Solution’ to their perimeter security needs. The product was originally designed to combat the problematic fitting of traditional bollards which require deep foundations and can cause inconvenience when exposing a range of services, prohibiting installation. During installation of this innovative Shallow Mount technology, disruption of habitats and tree roots is kept to a minimum. Less plant machinery is required on site to fit the product which in turn reduces pollution and noise. Fundamentally the Greener Solution uses a smaller amount of concrete, less than 25% of the concrete employed in a traditional foundation. This building material is responsible for 2% of UK Carbon Dioxide Emissions so it is vital that installers using this substance are mindful of this.
ATG’s ability to fulfil such a huge contract comes with their recent international growth and acquisition of manufacturing facilities worldwide. The company now manufactures under license in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and America. The company has also grown their distributor network with companies recently signing up from Indonesia and Vietnam.
Having only just completed a very successful distributor conference in both Europe and Asia; all ATG distributors new and old were required to pass the first level of comprehensive training to represent the ATG brand internationally.
The ATG Access brand appears to be going from strength to strength and is becoming world renowned for quality and innovation.
This recent success will continue as the company goes from strength to strength and ATG is currently recruiting in the UK to cope with the increased demand nationally and internationally.
