Manoeuvrability and flexibility were key requirements for Whittle Programmed Painting when the company hired a powered access machine from AFI to carry out a painting contract in Derby.
Following an AFI site survey to ascertain the height and outreach required and taking into account various areas with restricted access, AFI specified a JLG 800AJ boom lift for the work.
The boom lift was hired from AFI by Whittle for a contract to paint the exterior concrete and windows on a five-storey office building in Derby.
Peter Twells, Whittle Programmed Painting’s Senior Surveyor, said: “The 800AJ boom lift from AFI was ideal for the job. It was able to get into some areas where space was limited, and its articulating jib proved to be particularly useful because it enabled our operatives to gain better access by manoeuvring the cage into different positions in relation to the boom.”
The 800AJ boom lift has a working height of 26.38m, a horizontal outreach of 15.74m and a width of 2.44m.
The office building in Derby is one of five being painted by Whittle in a three month contract using AFI machines.
