Morgan Sindall Professional Services wins Crossrail appointment

Consultancy will provide architecture, engineering and design support for integration of existing Whitechapel station with new Crossrail improvements.

Morgan Sindall Professional Services has won a £2.7m appointment to provide architectural, mechanical, electrical and public health design services as part of the wider redevelopment of Whitechapel station in London.

The station is being transformed as part of Crossrail: one of the capital’s most ambitious transport projects since the construction of the London Underground.

The consultancy has been appointed by joint venture company, BBMV, to integrate Whitechapel station’s existing London Underground and East London Line services with the wider station improvements being delivered by Crossrail.

As one of Crossrail’s most architecturally ambitious station schemes, the redevelopment of Whitechapel will fully integrate with the station’s existing lines and support the regeneration of the surrounding area.

David Briggs, Operations Manager for Morgan Sindall Professional Services, comments: “Working on projects of this complexity plays to our strength in managing multiple disciplines and interfaces. Our heritage designing high-tech facilities using 3D and BIM means we’re well placed to deliver this complex project.

“Our work on the project will develop the concepts for the new station to a buildable set of plans for the contractors. It draws on our range of skills as a consultancy, from architecture and MEP to design management. It’s a major step in the station’s development and we’re proud to have secured a role in the continuing evolution of London’s transport system.”
