Isokorb® thermal break range – for which Schöck is best known in the UK, is the most effective countermeasure on the market for preventing thermal bridging at balcony and other cantilever connectivity situations. The Isokorb® range minimises heat and energy loss, condensation build-up, mould growth and structural damage – and uniquely allows connections to be made between concrete-to-concrete, concrete-to-steel and steel-to-steel construction elements. One of the modular connection types even allows the retro-fitting of balconies in certain situations. It is a range that comfortably exceeds the requirements of BRE IP1/06 and provides both BBA Certification and LABC Registration.
ComBAR® fibreglass reinforcement solution – is ideal for use in highly corrosive and electromagnetically sensitive environments. Schöck ComBAR® is much lighter than steel, has a significantly higher tensile strength, is non-conductive, corrosion resistant, non-magnetic and non-conductive. It is also easy to machine. ComBAR® (the name of which comes from ‘composite rebar’) is now becoming increasingly popular for use in major civil engineering projects across Europe, where its special properties offer a superior alternative to steel in many cases.
Ready to install dowels – are made from stainless steel and facilitate horizontal motion and the transfer of vertical loads in expansion joints. There are two types available. The ESD single shear dowel transmits forces where construction joints experience small loads – such as those between balcony slabs, roadway slabs and cantilever retaining walls. The SLD heavy-duty dowel has very high load-bearing capabilities for structurally critical demands such as floor slabs.
In both cases Schöck dowels offer extremely cost-effective solutions when compared with traditional labour-intensive methods – plus they are made of high grade stainless steel, so there is no danger of corrosion. The load bearing capacity is guaranteed at all times and an optional fire protection collar allows for a F90 fire rating of the connection.
