SMITH’S HEATS UP ECO HOMES

Established for more than 20 years and headquartered in Essex, Smith’s Environmental Systems (SES) is a system specialist with a worldwide reputation in the manufacture of quiet, environmentally friendly fan convectors.

Now Smith’s has added a broader range of renewable technologies to its heating portfolio. These include PV-Therm panels, a combination of photovoltaic (PV) technology and solar thermal technology and water-water heat pump. All products are MCS approved.

Working in conjunction with water source heat pump units, SES believes that the PV-Therm based system could represent a step change for sustainable domestic heating and hot water.

The heat pump has been specially designed so that there is minimal vibration and lower noise.

The heat pump uses a compressor that provides constant hot water for the heating and hot water systems using an indirect cylinder. The heat transfer fluid keeps the PV-Therm panel at an optimal temperature for maximum electricity generation.

If you combine the heat pump with the PV-Therm panels you can generate around 2.30kWp of electricity from 12 panel system.

Heat transfer (HT) fluid flows through the heat exchanger on the back of the PV-Therm panel which increases its performance by up to 30%. Return HT fluid from the panel will then be used for heating or domestic hot water supply directly or through water-water heat pump.

Smith’s environmental systems also offer a range of waterside fan coil products incorporating the latest technology (e.g. EC fans) with high performance at low noise levels for commercial applications.

In addition to our standard product range we offer both the design expertise and manufacturing flexibility to meet any special modifications.

Smith’s also manufacture a variety of Fin-Tube heat exchanger for numerous applications.
