CHECK THE LABELS
• The information displayed on the LFI labels is mandatory.
• 3 x labels are needed to include all the detail specified by EN131 Part 3.
• The label MUST include the manufacturer’s Licence Number.
CHECK THE RUNG JOINTS
• No splits in the rung turnover.
• Joint pulls tight to stile and slightly bends the stile walls together.
• No sharp edges.
CHECK THE RUNGS
• Good, deep and consistent tread depth.
• Rung offset at 75 degrees to provide flat working.
• No sharp edges.
CHECK THE FINISH
• Tuffsteel ladders are Galvalume finished – not galvanised.
• This means no ‘spark’ risk for use in Petrochemical installations.
• It also provides all-over protection, inside and outside making TuffSteel the most durable steel ladder available.
• Look out for chipping or signs of rust on inferior products.
CHECK THE DIMENSIONS
• Especially the stile width of a 5m ladder.
• LFI 5m TuffSteel: stile width 63.00mm.
• Inferior alternatives will have smaller stile sections – on the 5m long ladders.
• Imported copies often have a stile width of approx 50mm
