As part of a multi-million pound refurbishment project of the Meads shopping centre in Farnborough to include new restaurants and a multi-screen cinema, specialist contractor Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd were appointed by Dawnus Construction Ltd to undertake the refurbishment of the shopping centre’s multi-storey car park ensuring the car park remained operational throughout the duration of the contract.

With the experience and quality delivery Cemplas have built up refurbishing a wide range of diverse and highly complex multi-storey car park projects across the UK, Cemplas undertook the refurbishment project providing a clean, bright, and safe parking experience ensuring public access into the car park and rights of way were maintained at all times.

Prior to the main refurbishment works starting, Cemplas carried out multiple tests for chloride contamination of the concrete structure.
The refurbishment project works included:
• Removing the old worn out top deck coating, and replacing it with Resdev Deckmaster flexible waterproof membrane.
• Removal and repair of defective concrete to all levels using Sika Monotop.
• Applying Ferrogard 903 to chloride contaminated concrete surfaces.
• Reinstating failed joints with Sikaflex polyurethane sealant.
• Cleaning and applying two coats of Sika 670W new anti-carbonation coating to all soffits, walls and columns.
• Repainting the Armco barriers around the car park perimeter walls to all levels.
• Repainting all internal metal handrails to match the desired colour scheme chosen by the project design team.
• Repainting all internal metal pipework.
• Applying a new interdeck coating to all levels.
• The upgrade of two internal staircases, including wall repairs, new paint to walls, windows and handrail, new anti-slip floor coating and new fire doors.
• Each car parking level was colour coded to help the public easily identify the floor on which they had parked their vehicle.
