SFS INTEC HOTS UP ITS OFFERING WITH NEW HEAT INDUCTION WELDING TOOL

SFS intec has launched a revolutionary field fastening system for the attachment of PVC and TPO single ply membrane systems, using intelligent heat induction welding technology – isoweld™ 3000.

The fastening system requires the installation of specially coated isoweld™ stress plates combined with thermally broken sleeves through the insulation layer which are mechanically fastened into the substrate. Installed in a field fixgrid pattern, the single ply waterproof membrane is then applied and the specialist isoweld™ 3000 tool welds the membrane directly onto the installed stress plates. This method provides an extremely secure fix, without penetrating the waterproof membrane and the thermally broken sleeves ensure that the heat loss through the fastener is negated, thereby reducing the installed thickness of insulation required.

“Across the industry, adhesive application is still believed to be an effective method of fixing. However, applications rely on the skill of the installer to apply the right amount of bonding agent per square metreto withstand wind loading, not to mentionthe fact that temperature and surface conditions can hinder installation,” commented Martyn Holloway, Business and Development Manager at SFS intec.“Mechanical fastening is a stronger, safer method for fixing single ply roofs and is unaffected by most of the issues that adhesives face.

“Aside from the adhered and mechanically fixed applications though, is a more sophisticated solution which allows for high wind loads, whilst minimising costs. The method is heat induction welding coupled with a mechanical fix. Our easy to use isoweld™ 3000 tool, promotes this application for secure and economic fixing of single ply membrane.”

The isoweld™3000 tool features a valuable ‘search and control’ function to indicate the positioning of the inductor over the stress plate – only welding when correctlyin place, to enable high levels of accuracy through an effortless procedure. Automatic adjustments according to the ambient temperature are also integrated into the system, as are compensation factors for current variations. It means that achieving an optimum fixing quality is virtually independant of the operator or working environment.

The isoweld™ 3000 machine is designed for ergonomic operator usage; fitted wheels for easy site manoeuvrability together with aheight adjustable handle and comes with a hand inductor too, allowing a finer level of detail.

Following extensive testing, SFS intec has also applied the CE mark to the isoweld™ 3000 machine, and to all of its associated fasteners and components.

Alongside innovative, reliable fastening systems, SFS intec offers a comprehensive full service supplier support package. This includes contract-specific wind uplift calculations, fixing layouts and operator training both on and off site.
