Lucideon, the international materials technology company, has extended its construction services to include testing of curtain wall systems.
The new service provides testing to BS EN 13830 and CWCT standards, to help ensure the safety and consistency of curtain wall systems. Testing is conducted by Lucideon’s expert scientists and engineers who produce and analyze data to prove performance, identify potential issues and advise on product development.
Steve Newman, Product Manager at Lucideon, said:
“We’re delighted to have extended our services to the cladding and façade industry.
“Our test suite for curtain walling includes our unique wind loading facility; an enclosed system with fully programmable controls of the loading parameters. We’re also able to test the performance of systems when exposed to extreme changes in temperature and humidity in our hygrothermal rigs.”
The popularity of non-structural curtain walling has grown for both new projects and refurbishments; it can offer a lightweight and cost effective option for a building’s façade, with added aesthetic and functional properties.
Testing of curtain wall systems at Lucideon is carried out in its purpose-built large-scale construction laboratories and includes air leakage, impact resistance, rain penetration, structural serviceability, glass and anchor bolt pull-out testing.
