SHANLY HOMES SITE MANAGER SCOOPS PRIDE IN THE JOB AWARD

Gavin Baker, site manager at Shanly Homes has scooped one of the coveted Pride in the Job Awards for his work on Knights Mead, a new development of 32 three and four bedroom houses in Chertsey.

Recognising top site managers across the UK for their dedication to building high quality homes, the National House Building Council (NHBC) has sifted through more than 13,000 entries to create a shortlist of 400 site managers who have demonstrated best practice on site.

Award winners will now progress to the next level of the Pride in the Job Awards in a series of regional events planned for the autumn, where the top site managers will be awarded a Seal of Excellence or a regional title.

Having worked at Shanly Homes for more than ten years, Gavin believes that his achievement at the Chertsey-based development is down to having an exceptional product and a dedicated team: “With the new homes industry still weathering tough market conditions, having a well-designed, high quality product and a committed workforce of superb tradesmen to deliver it, is pivotal to the success of any development.

“While this is of course a major personal accolade, this award win is also testament to the high standards set by Shanly Homes, which are replicated on every development it builds.

“If I was to give one tip to the next generation of site managers, it would be to set high standards early on and educate the workforce on how to achieve them. It is only by doing this that your team will know exactly what is expected of them and will help you deliver your project safely, on time and within budget.

With 30 years’ experience in the industry, Gavin started his career in construction as a management trainee at the age of 21, after having completed an HNC/HND in construction studies. Outside of work, he has a wife and two sons and enjoys DIY and playing golf at the weekends.

With the final phase now nearing completion, Knights Mead is a stylish development of 32 three and four-bedroom family houses, with prices ranging from £399,950, to £439,950.

With attractive elevations to the exterior and flexible layouts to the interior, houses at Knights Mead are highly versatile, perfectly suited to the needs of modern families. Stylish open plan living areas, fully fitted kitchen/breakfast rooms, as well as light-filled bedrooms, family bathrooms and en-suite shower rooms to the master bedroom have all been designed with an exceptionally high level of attention to detail.

The stunning collection of homes is set within an attractive residential road, within easy walking distance of the centre of Chertsey with its array of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes, as well as a health club and supermarket.

Transport links are superb, with the M3, M25 and Heathrow Airport all within a short drive and the train station a mere 15-minute walk from Knights Mead.
