Travis Perkins Hire, part of one of the UK’s leading builders’ merchants – the Travis Perkins Group – has given a pink makeover to four mini diggers to help in its support for Breast Cancer Campaign and Children’s Hospices UK. Travis Perkins Hire has worked in partnership with Watling JCB to paint over the traditional yellow with a vivid shade of pink to raise money and awareness for the charities.
The eye catching pink liveried diggers will be hired out to customers to help Travis Perkins Hire’s fundraising efforts for the two UK charities. During the next 12 months the pink diggers will tour the country’s Travis Perkins Tool & Equipment Hire branches, where they can be hired by customers. Each time a pink digger is hired out, half of the rental cost will be evenly split between Breast Cancer Campaign and Children’s Hospices UK.
The initiative builds on the fundraising efforts from the Travis Perkins Hire business, which has raised £70,000 to date. Steve Day, Group Hire Commercial Director at Travis Perkins Hire said: “Transforming our mini diggers with a pink makeover is a small gesture but the attention they’ll get will be well worth it for the two charities. The diggers look great in pink and we’re delighted to help generate publicity and raise funds for the two great causes; and it couldn’t be a better timed launch with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month.”
Richard Telfer from Watling JCB was delighted to support the cause and agrees that the timing couldn’t be better. “The fantastic and highly visible breast cancer awareness campaign has an important message – early detection saves lives.
This imaginative fund-raiser from Travis Perkins will, I am sure, help to raise lots of money, but just as importantly, will spread the message out even wider. I’m delighted to have helped in a small way.The pink mini diggers add to a growing range of pink products available from Travis Perkins, which includes wheelbarrows, pens, handsaws and super grip gloves.
Profits from the sale of these items are split between Breast Cancer Campaign and Children’s Hospices UK. Travis Perkins also has 12 pink lorries touring the UK, raising money for the two charities.
