When times are tough, quality always shines through, which is why Precise Partitions is looking forward to 2012 with a full order book. Despite the two years of recession the Liverpool firm has never been busier, and it’s all down to its founding principles of excellence in workmanship and professional commitment to schedules.
The company began life in 2004, started by experienced drywall fitter, Steve Davies. He was encouraged to start up on his own while working for sub-contractors, as many of the principal contractors recognised his skills and talent and wanted to do business with him directly instead. From small beginnings Precise Partitions have grown to become a highly respected firm capable of delivering a complete internal fit-out as well as external SFS framing.
“I pride myself on the quality of the job,” says Steve, “and I’ve always been adamant that I could supply a better job than many of the other larger firms.” His strength of conviction has served him well and he has begun reaping the rewards for his high standards. “Main contractors are coming directly to me to take on major contracts. They know they will get a very high standard of work delivered on time, sometimes ahead of schedule in fact.”
He puts this success down to employing the right people who share his work ethic. “Right from the start, I took on professionals who knew exactly what they were doing and completely understood what I was trying to do. We all have an enormous wealth of experience and we know the industry inside out, which means we can recognise a window of opportunity on a job and know what is required to move a job along.”
Steve prides himself on never missing a handover date, and believes in putting the same effort in on all projects no matter how big or small. “We have worked on contracts ranging from £10,000 to £1.7m, there is not much we would not do, except, that is, deliver a substandard job.”
Precise Partitions are currently working for on a prestigious site on the Albert Dock Waterfront, a 200-unit apartment block. “They are giving us very positive feedback on the work we are doing.”
Two Balfour Beatty contracts are also keeping them busy, one a new school in Kirby, the other a leisure centre in Huyton, along with a bar and lounge refit for a hotel chain.
“I am very optimistic about the way things are going for 2012,” says Steve. “And I am really looking forward to where the New Year takes us. I would like to see the company continue to grow to become one of the main forces in the North West of England.”
Steve recognises that the company’s current and future success is down to the quality of the people he employs and relationships he has built with suppliers and manufacturers. “Some of our staff members have been with me right from the beginning, and it is commendable that they want to continue working with me. They are all highly professional, experts at what they do. We have also been very fortunate in forming strong relationships with our suppliers, whom often go an extra mile to ensure we do not have to worry about a shortage of materials”.
