KE Fibertec has supplied Direjet Vario fabric ventilation ducts to Mayesbrook Arena in Barking.
The 5,000m2 sports hall, which has space for up to 3,000 spectators, will stage national and international events, largely in netball, handball, basketball and martial arts.
Olympians competing in handball and athletics and Paralympians taking part in judo and wheelchair rugby will use it.
It was officially opened by rowing champion Sir Steve Redgrave.
Sir Redgrave said the centre would leave an “amazing legacy” for Barking and Dagenham. “Looking back at past Games, there’s a lot of infrastructure that doesn’t get used,” he said. “What we did with London was to make sure if we couldn’t use it for a 25-year programme afterwards we wouldn’t build it. The legacy that’s going to be left at SportHouse is amazing. The equipment is world class.”
The Direjet Vario nozzle system supplies 51,840m3 of air to both heat and cool the sportshall from a height of 12m. 60mm nozzles were chosen to ensure that the heated buoyant air would be able to reach floor level. The 100m wide space is served by just two runs of evenly spaced Direjet Vario fabric duct. In addition to the main hall, in the Elite Gym, an Inject hybrid textile system was chosen to condition the 60m long space quietly from a single run of ductwork.
