STEEL WINDOWS ARE WORTH A SECOND LOOK

The Steel Window Association represents the great majority of UK steel window manufacturers, ranging in size from the smallest of craft-based companies specialising in domestic and small commercial replacement and repair work, through to large companies that manufacture and install windows in literally every type of building. There is not a single steel window project of any description that one of the SWA members cannot handle.

Every contract undertaken has the personal attention of senior management and SWA member companies operate established and flexible services in window design, manufacture, installation, repair and refurbishment.

Unfortunately, there are still many people, including architects and builders, who have the wrong impression of steel windows.

These are the facts: for more than 60 years all UK-made steel windows have been galvanised during manufacture, so they do not rust.

The extra slim frames of steel windows mean they let in more light than any other window type. Being extra strong, steel windows are vandal resistant and enhanced security versions can carry the Association of Chief Police Officers ‘Secured By Design’ label.

All steel windows are made with recycled steel, so they are amongst the building industry’s greenest products.

Replacement steel windows will definitely improve thermal efficiency and can meet UK Building Regulations.

When it comes to maintenance costs, steel windows usually come with a factory-applied polyester colour coating so the windows will not need re-painting for at least 20 years, and the frames will last a building’s lifetime.
