Due to the growing demand within the flooring industry and legislations such as the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) there is a need for eco-friendly products which help reduce health risks and cut down emissions. This is a particular concern within sensitive environments such as hospitals and schools. Consumers also require building materials that do not pollute the air with VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and this has had an impact on the building sector with LEED certification putting pressure on companies to develop sustainable and eco-friendly constructions.
Uzin has innovated a number of products for floor installations with exceptionally low VOC’s and is the first to introduce a solvent-free neoprene contact adhesive, Uzin WK 222. As with all Uzin products, solvent-free means 0% solvents. Therefore, Uzin WK 222 has been awarded an EMICODE EC1® accolade for being solvent-free, very low emission and guarantees excellent indoor air quality. WK 222 not only meets the highest requirements on occupational safety and environmental protection according to the hazardous substances ordinance but also meets consumer demands in protecting a healthy indoor environment.
Uzin WK 222 was developed over three years and has been subject to rigorous on-site testing. Given today’s pressure for sustainability and using non-hazardous products, WK 222 offers contractors a powerful contact adhesive which can be used for profiles and skirting as well as all common types of floor covering on absorbent and non-absorbent substrates.
