British Drilling Association Announces ‘Quality Matters’ Roadshow Presentations

The British Drilling Association (BDA) is the official trade association that represents the entire spectrum of the drilling industry. This includes companies undertaking ground investigation, ground engineering, ground consolidation, de-watering, waterwells, geothermal and ground source, sonic drilling and blast drilling, those who manufacture and supply rigs and equipment, providers of support services to the industry and engineering consultants. The Association, which celebrated its 40thanniversary in 2016, has as its ethos the continued promotion of quality, safety and good practice with a continued focus on advancing the processes and output from such an essential industry.

To continue this long history of focus on improvement, the BDA has announced a schedule of roadshow presentations throughout 2017 under the title ‘Quality Matters!” The initiative has received significant support from the CITB, who recognise the goals as promoting key objectives of quality in the industry, increasing skills and encouraging future entrants.

The presentations, targeting Specifiers and Consultants throughout the UK, will promote the BDA mission statement and goals, as well as highlight more specific topics such as drilling operations compliance; the importance and understanding of appropriate qualifications; obtaining quality samples; best practice; membership criteria; industry representation and the BDA Audit and CPD.

Promoting the roadshow initiative, Anne Baxter, Chair of the BDA said: “In recent years the BDA membership has grown considerably as individuals and companies recognise the benefits of engagement to raise standards and best practice across the industry. In an evolving environment we need to continue to address the challenges faced by the drilling industry and wider construction sector. With the support of the CITB this initiative will do just that promote the BDA and its focus on quality and safety; emphasise to Specifiers the importance of adherence to quality, training and qualification within the companies they employ, and encourage new entrants into an industry which is perceived as up to date, compliant and worthy of a career choice.

Presentations will be informal in style with a question and answer session following. Although organised typically over lunch, they can be organised to suit and can be booked through the BDA directly.
