Mixed-use developments set to become priority for London councils in 2018, say Travis Perkins

Developers in London are likely to see an uptick in demand for mixed use developments in 2018 as local authorities seek to protect essential services, according to builders’ merchants Travis Perkins. Increased interest is expected following the Mayor of London’s draft 2017 London Plan, officially launched on Friday 1st December, called on councils to “allocate an appropriate range and number of sites that are suitable for residential and mixed-use development”.

Ramboll appointed by Welsh Government as lead designer for A55 Junctions 15 and 16 Improvements project

Engineering, design and consultancy company Ramboll has today announced their successful bid to lead the design team appointed to upgrade two junctions on the A55 North Wales Expressway.

The aim of the improvement project is to remove two traffic bottlenecks and provide free flowing junctions for this vital stretch of road. Between 1970 and 2000 the entire length of road was fully reconstructed to form a dual carriageway link between Chester and Holyhead, and it has since been designated as part of the E22 Trans European Network Route between Dublin and Moscow. The length of Euroroute within the UK (Hull to Holyhead) comprises grade-separated interchanges allowing the free flow of traffic, apart from the at-grade roundabouts at junctions 15 and 16.

Partnership yields significant fuel efficiency improvement and accident reduction for CEMEX UK

Building materials supplier CEMEX UK has achieved a 10% reduction in ‘blame-worthy’ accidents over three years and a six per cent improvement in fuel efficiency in the past year alone since partnering with Northampton-based telematics specialists, Isotrak. CEMEX, which supplies cement, aggregrates,  asphalt and building products in the UK,  has partnered with Isotrak to monitor and report on driving performance criteria to improve safety, compliance and efficiency of the vehicles responsible for supplying the asphalt and aggregate products.
