Having refurbished the main car park decks several years ago, Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd were contacted by Consultants Tuffin Ferraby and Taylor and asked to assist in providing a specification and cost’s to upgrade the protection and appearance of various concrete elements to the external roof car park, and the two main concrete spiral entry and exit ramps totalling over 3000m2 in total.

Timloc teams up with Hull College to demonstrate benefits of cavity trays

An East Yorkshire building products manufacturer has teamed up with a local college to hold a training event on cavity tray installation.

Timloc invited students from Hull College, who are undertaking their NVQ Level 3 in Brickwork, to its site in Goole. Here, the company’s Technical Director, Phil Harvey, demonstrated best practice on the installation of cavity trays.

California-based design-build group, pH Living™, is using an Ion Science (www.ionscience.com) Tiger hand held photoionisation (PID) detector to monitor volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the construction of its bespoke residential and commercial properties for people with chemical sensitivities. This is in line with the new Healthy Home Standard developed by the International Institute for the Building Biology and Ecology (IBE).

Sharing lessons with Denmark

The NHMF, CIH member Chris Moquet and M3 hosted a study tour by Danish housing officials. Four managers from Glostrup Boligselskab Housing Association in Copenhagen came to see how UK housing organisations have implemented digital solutions as part of their everyday procedures. They have embarked upon a two year project which seeks to deliver a more efficient and enhanced level of customer service. They are exploring the feasibility of providing repair reporting and housing management services online potentially for a group of five housing providers. While over here they met representatives from Bracknell Forest Homes, Red Kite Community Housing, Southern Housing Group, Brighton & Hove County Council and the Breyer Group.
