Prime Minister joins Balfour Beatty to celebrate £1 billion supply chain spend with small business

This morning, the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable David Cameron MP, joined Balfour Beatty for its announcement of a record £1 billion spend with small business in 2014.

The spend, which will be the largest ever by a UK construction company, was announced by Nicholas Pollard, Balfour Beatty’s UK construction Chief Executive Officer, accompanied by the Prime Minister and alongside local small business partners at Balfour Beatty’s Westminster student accommodation project for Urbanest.

Saudi Energy 2014 to showcase latest products & services in power sector

Recent industry reports have revealed that power consumption in Saudi Arabia continues to grow at a steady rate. Over the last decade, the Kingdom witnessed an average annual increase of 8% in electricity demand, with the number of subscribers significantly rising by an average of 5.2%. The demand in the housing sector particularly remains strong, with the sector consuming 50% of the Kingdom’s total electricity production. Industrial electricity consumption, meantime, grew by an average of 6.9%.

Pre-construction Under Way for Louisiana International Gulf Transfer Terminal

Bechtel, a global leader in planning, designing, and building port and marine projects, has been selected by LIGTT Project Company LLC to provide management services for the pre-construction of the Louisiana International Gulf Transfer Terminal. The innovative new cargo transfer terminal off Louisiana’s Gulf Coast will be the largest deep-water port in the United States and will cater to the new classes of larger, more economical ships. The port will enhance America’s international trade capabilities. LIGTT Project Company expects the new port to generate more than 33,000 jobs in Louisiana and Mississippi.

NETWORK RAIL AWARDS PROPERTY CONTRACT TO RAPLEYS

Rapleys Commercial Property and Planning Consultants have successfully secured a new contract to complete inspections of Network Rail’s entire commercial listed building portfolio.

The contract involves undertaking surveys and producing both condition and planned maintenance reports of 275 properties across 165 sites nationally within 12 weeks. Properties range from small arches to large hotels. A number of the properties are Grade 1 Listed.
