The National Chimney Academy is Now Open!

On Friday 11th March, Specflue, one of the UK’s leading providers of stove and flue products opened Britain’s biggest, dedicated HETAS training facility at their head office in Sudbury, Suffolk.

The centre will provide those wishing to become HETAS engineers with the appropriate qualifications and installation techniques to safely install wood burning stoves, fit flue systems, carry out appropriate maintenance and gain information on the stove and flue industry in general.

Mount Anvil scoops top Evening Standard award and Suna Interior Design wins bathrooms KBB award

London developer Mount Anvil’s Barnsbury Place development in Islington has won the top accolade for the best conversion in the 2011 London Evening Standard New Homes Awards.

Barnsbury Place, a mix of newbuild and conversion of Edwardian school buildings, won first prize in the large developer category. The Evening Standard described it as: “A unanimous choice, with all the reader judges saying they would like to live there. It is an attractive development of houses and apartments that has been built on the site of an Edwardian school, with many of the original features retained, including tiles, stairs and the carved “boys” and “girls” entrance signs.”

140 TONNE CHIMNEY DEMOLISHED BY NEW VOLKSWAGEN PICK-UP

To mark the launch of its new Amarok pick-up, Volkswagen has today demonstrated the impressive power of its brand new model by using it to demolish a 67 m high steel chimney weighing approximately 140 tonnes and standing at nearly the same height as Westminster Abbey.
